Allen Samar - Villa Conchita Beach Resort

Municipality of Allen

Allen was once under the pueblo of Capul where the early Spanish Missionaries to the country settled. In 1867, the residents of Manipa-a, which was later renamed as La Granja, petitioned the Spanish Governor General for the creation of their place into a pueblo. Thus, the place was named Allen, taken from the surname of an American Governor General in the Philippines. The name Allen has been retained up to the present.

Allen is strategically located and its nearness to the island of Luzon (barely 12.5 miles stretch of one hour ferry trip) through the completed Daang Maharlika (Philippine-Japan Friendship Highway) via the San Juanico Bridge to Eastern Visayas, and its accessibility to the Balicuatro towns, made the municipality the center of trade, commerce and industry, as well as the center of political, cultural, medical, athletics, judicial and tourism activities in the Balicuatro area (towns of Capul, San Antonio, San Vicente, San Isidro, Victoria, Allen and Lavezares).
